Soul Eater; Crona's gender questions?

Yeah, I know everyone calls Crona a boy as calling Crona a 'him' but I am pretty sure based on my other research Crona is a She? Why doesn't 'She' speak up when they refer to her as a guy?? it just seems confusing to me.
